 | Daniel was born in May 1983, in Seoul, South Korea, where his parents, Doug and Barbara Threlfall, continue to serve the Lord as missionaries. Due to the visa situation in South Korea, Daniel's family ministered in Washington, Canada, South Carolina, and South Korea during the years he was growing up. Daniel accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 3 when a conversation in with his father in the car brought concern over his eternal destiny. After getting home, he prayed with his mother to ask Jesus into his heart. He was baptized by immersion in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was blessed to grow up in a environment catalystic to his spiritual growth. During his teen years, Daniel became bitter about the fact that he grew up on the mission field, and in his mind had "missed out" on many of the opportunities he perceived other young people as having. Serving in full time missions was certainly out of the picture for him! But during his sophomore year at Bob Jones University, the Lord used His Word during a missions conference to convict Daniel's heart about this. A summer later, Daniel had the privilege of going on a summer-long missions internship to Tanzania, East Africa. Although he grew up on a foreign mission field, this trip held many new learning experiences for him, particularly as it related toward ministering in a third-world country. God greatly used this opportunity to even further draw his heart toward committment to serve the Lord in full-time foreign missions. |
